Side Lights Switch On When Unlocking Car - Can This Feature Be Turned Off?

Featured Replies

Hi

I've recently bought a new Ford Fiesta Zetec (60 reg) and whenever I unlock it using the key-fob the side lights come on. They will then switch off after a while (not sure how long but longer than a minute), if the inside door lock is pressed (not just by closing the door) or if I switch the headlights on then off again.

I'm concerned that this is putting a drain on the battery. Does anyone know a way of turning this feature off?

(This is not related to the "coming home" feature)

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Anne

I saw a VW Scirocco where the dipped beam Xenons also came on when unlocking the car. The short amount of time the sidelights are on in the Fiesta won't harm the battery. The battery gets recharged as you drive about.

Hope that helps.

The features are normally turnt on and off by the dealer using software through what we call central car configuration, I cant remember if this feature can be changed, would have to connect to a vehicle to see.
