Mk1 Escort Dvla No Help

Featured Replies

Hi im dave and have a problem i bought a escort mk1 of ebay now before you start yes there was no logbook with this car, having spoke to dvla shouldnt be a problem so purchased the car sent off to dvla who rang and said i need the vin number well as it happens the front panel is rotten where it was so there is no vin number, so here i am with a car and reg but no log book and no vin number and dvla said will only issue a log book with the vin number for the car, i have traced the car back to 3 previous owners who bought the car to do up then sold it on but came unstuck when the last owner moved away and nobody knows where so wondering if anybody has any ideas of my next move before i give in and scrap the !Removed! thing after all the hard work i have put in yours hopefully dave.

I may be wrong here. But if you get a hpi check done on the car then it should give you the vin number

Hi Dave have a look in the drivers side footwell alongside the seat under the carpet and you should hopefully find the vin number stamped there. If not check the passenger side as well. Normally the vin number under the bonnet was on a metal tag plate along with other information so it may be worth checking around the car to see if it has been put somewhere else? Hope this helps, Mike
