Ka Sport Problem

Not sure if any of you can help but my car was fine driving to work today and I got in to go to the gym this evening and it has started to make a sort of whirring sound when I am in first and second gear and when I am driving under 30 mph. The noise stops when I get above 30 mph and have gone into 3rd gear.

I am worried it is something really expensive and wanted to check out before sending to a garage as garages also seem to rip me off!

It was serviced recently so I am wondering if it's something to do with the cold weather.

Oil level has been checked and is fine, so is engine fluid, tyre pressure and I can't see any leaks from where I park my car.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I would really appreciate any ideas...could it be the fan belt???
