Best Mk7 Induction Kit?

Featured Replies

Hi, which of the following induction kits (or other kit that i dont mention) would you guys recommend in terms of power/torque and quality of build:

Pipercross induction kit: http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.jsp?productID=877&pic=1

J1 cold filter kit: http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.jsp?productID=913

K&N: http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.jsp?productID=820

The J1 kit promises 5bhp for approximately £220 while the Pipercross offers 3-6bhp at only £120. The Pipercross system is also the kit featured in the pumaspeed power upgrade pack. The K&N system seems sub par in performance to the other two kits -Correct me if i am wrong.

it will save up and mountune it

I'd get a drop in and call it a day. The pipercross induction kit (and pretty much all CAI) make these miniscule difference at high RPM.

It doesn't really give you what they claim until you're at 6000+ RPM. At 3000ish rpm, you get ..1? more torq at the band where I shift on a normal day, but HP is the same as stock till you get around 4500rpm. In any case, it is not enough to notice anything. Then to top it off, all these claims are based on using a motor that is running after market exhaust manifold, sport cat and exhaust which doesn't prove anything for what it will do with an otherwise stock motor since the other parts can very well make the CAI work better. Also....foam filter. They will have to provide how well that filter filters in terms of microns. "Maximum airflow and engine protection" means nothing other then factless advertising.
