Hi I have a mk3 mondeo 2.0 zetec 51 plate and it wants to idle at 1000 rpm instead of the normal 750-850 rpm any ideas what might be causing this and how should I fix it

She drives normal with no loss of power or any other unnatural issues

Please help thanking you all in advance

Sounds like it could be the idle control valve. May need removing and cleaning. Failing that it may be your MAF, start the car and then unplug the MAF, if it makes no difference i would say your MAF is faulty

spongy beaks must be a nightmare! but on a more serious note the humm you describe could be a brake pad/shoe binding slightly or a slightly warped disc. did you have any of the odd humm noises before you changed the wheel bearings? if no then its probably something you have disturbed. spongy breaks mean air in the system so i think you may have a problem with the brakes, where you changed the wheel bearings. go back and check your work, if no weeping of brake fluid found at the brake cylinders then check the rest of the system for leaks. check you brake fluid resevoir is full, then re-bleed the brake system.!
