Retrofitting Trip Computer Into 59Plate Style Can It Be Done

My g/f wants to know if she can have the trip computer in her 2009 59 plate style fiesta

If i changed the instrument cluster would it display the correct mileage and would a trip computer display.

If you ask Ford they'll more than likely say it can't be done.

It maybe possible, who knows, but who is going to spend the wonga to try and find out. Personally, doubt the cost will be worth it anyway if it can be done.

It'll be much easier to sell the car without and buy a Zetec, probably cheaper too.

Have a look at the USB thread just to see how difficult to retrofit options are.

valid point that... fitting add ons yourself is easy... adding ford options that you never got as standard is far from easy

One thing i did find when going through the test menu on the instrument cluster is a Distance to Empty display (DTE) It is in KM not miles though.

Also a function that shows the litres per km but not miles

So there must be something in there that could be unlocked etc.

And if there was a needle in a haystack, could you really be bothered looking for it, you can buy them for pennies. ;)
