Maf Meter Help Needed

Hi, had a bump in the 1.3 encore (1997) all fixed but now if i connect up the maf the car is dead sluggish (possibly limp mode?) if i dissconnect the plug then she pulls ok but of course this cant be left like this. Error code is 0102 (maf circuit low input) anyone got any ideas?

    i would say the maf sensor has been damaged in the bump. never heard of this before but maf sensors are fragile creatures.
