Mk 5 Wing Mirror Replacement

Featured Replies

**Solved**

I dismantled the new wing mirror and attached it to the old mirrors bracket.

Hi,

I'm trying to replace the left hand side wing mirror on my mk 5, i've bought a replacement but i'm having trouble fitting it to the car. The problem is due to the bracket that mounts the mirror to the car being cast metal while the original is plastic. The holes in the new mirrors mount are a mm or 2 larger than the ones in the original meaning i cant reuse the existing screws.

To attach it i've bought some nuts and bolts, though i can't imagine this will be optimal as it'll be a pain to tighten them as i'll only have access to one end.

Does anyone have any experience or know how the mirror with the metal bracket should be fitted?

Regards,

Nul
