Mk7 Fiesta Wheel/suspension Problems

Featured Replies

I`ve been reading the posts re buckled alloys on mk7 fiestas and suspension noises going over speed bumps. For the record I have had 6 buckled steel wheels and 2 new tyres destroyed due to pothole damage within a short period-so it`s not just an alloy wheel issue. As for the "crunching"noise over humps, this is more than likely to be the engine undertray or the plastic splitter under the front bumper. The front end is imho very low and it`s easy to get caught out.Great wee car for smooth roads but not for the crater infested jungle that passes for west central Scotland.

Well i have had my alloys damaged due to pot holes to, and also find when i hit brakes hard enough where the brakes are lockin up and abs is kikin in and i go other the slightest bump, i get a loud knock from right hand side, not sure if this is due to a suspension isssue or linkage or something. but on the other hand never hand the engine tray scrape, i do know that the Zetec S models are lowerd slighly more then the titaniums and zetecs and other base models,

Related to this, I had a problem driving out of my garage with my 1.4 Mk7 petrol auto. The front skirt or undertray kept catching on the slight (and it is slight) ramp at the exit as I reversed out. It didn't seem to happen on driving into the garage but I suspect that the rear -facing edge of the skirt was simply brushing on the ramp on entry but catching on the way out. Interestingly, my previous Mk7 TDCI hadn't got such a low skirt under the bumper and I didn't have this probem. Is this a modification or has the petrol engine model got it for water deflection ? In floods water affects a petrol more than a diesel.

Same again here with the damaged wheels and ford take no responsibility, i also have a worn out driver's side floor mat which has done 12k miles in its first year(average milage so iam told) but ford say it has worn out due to excess use. I think this might be the first and last ford i own.
