Car...Ford Escort mk6 (2000)1800TD.

Getting a grinding/squeal/scraping noise from steering wheel!

No play in steering wheel and steers fine,horn and indicators working!

Took steering wheel off and greased bearings on steering column, no change!

Removed clockspring and everything seems fine.However,although the two spring loaded contact pins work ok the ends of them are flat and rough at the edges!Could they have worn down flat therefore causing the scraping noise?

Where would I get replacement pins if needed?

Noise is gettin worse and its doing my head in.Any help much appreciated,thanks!
