Wheres fifth gear gone??????????

Hi all, my boyfriend Luke, has recently changed my engine (as I blew mine up oops)! however it is now running again, but lacks fifth gear!?!?! does anybody have any idea how he can retrieve it?

Luke wasn't using a manual at the time and removed /partially removed a couple of things that looked like drain plugs, but quite obviously wern't, does anybody know what he might've done? and how he can rectify this? The gear box works fine in all other gears, making no untoward noises!

    was the gearbox replaced with the engine? if it was are you shure its a five speed. if the origanal box was kept check all the gear linkage for correct fitment.

    no, the gear box wasnt replaced, its the same one so its definately got 5 gears
