Rear Axel Bent!

Featured Replies

Hi, quick question, my sister has a 2008 fiesta 1.4 zetec 3 door.

last summer she noticed that the rear off side tyre was wearing on the outer part more than the rest, plus there was a distinct grinding noise coming from rear. took car into ford, who replaced rear bearings and advised she replaces rear tyres, job done all good, except the tracking needed doing. car went back in to independent tyre garage who advise that the same tyre with the outer wear is out of lign, most prob twisted axel.

car has done 10K and is only used in town, no adverse driving or knocks which she has had. cart was bought from new, ford want over £750 to fix, any ideas?

Car has been a lemon since day one, with temp gauge faulty, folding wing mirrors not working, seat adjustment and the list goes on....now this...:o(

thanks in advance.

If the car initially went back to Ford, they replaced the rear bearings and the grinding noise was fixed, that wouldn't suggest a twisted rear axle.

Has Ford confirmed that the axle is twisted or are you just going on what the tyre guy thinks?
