Code Not Working Ford 6000Cd Radio

Featured Replies

I recently fell in love with and bought a Ford Focus LX 1.6 1999.

I was doing a small job on the window and had to disconnect the battery. I now need to enter a correct code into the stereo to get it working - simple right?! I have the code, I entered it as per the instruction manual (I've done this a thoudand times in previous cars too) and its coming up as a wrong code entered (the same code was in both manual which matches the car and on a sticker under the ashtray by the original owner)

I dont understand how I have the correct code for the correct radio I am entering it properly (1 on stereo is where you enter the 1st number of code 2 second number etc and press 5 to enter)

ANyone any clues? Could the code have been reset??

It's a 6000CD yeah? What's the serial number (M followed by 6 digits i.e.Mxxxxxx) I'll double check the code for you. Maybe the previous owner changed the radio?

Thanks a million, I'll pop into the garage and get the radio pulled out to get the seriewl number, obviously the one in the manual isnt the correct one and my ford radio keys wont work on this stereo for some reason. Thanks a mil, will get back to you soon!

I have the same issue.
Recent flat battery means I now have to input the radio code to regain access to audio unit which is a Sony 6000 single CD version.

Thankfully I have the original code provided by the dealer at purchase but everytime I enter it the unit does not accept the code.

I have tried inputing enough times to be sure I'm not making a mistake. I have also tried disconnecting the battery again but this doesn't change anything.

Can anyone offer any advice? I can take it to a dealer but if they just provide me with the same code I am already using then I'm not sure how this will help.
3 more attempts until it's locked - yikes! Series number V003599
Thanks for any assistance

I should also add that I think I've used this code before, successfully some years ago and now it's not accepted

I would try getting a new code. I have the same Sony stereo in my Focus MK2 and recently paid £1.75 on eBay for a V serial number code which worked first attempt on mine.

Read this thread, and make double sure you are 'entering' the code correctly...

Have a look at the video of entering the code: https://youtu.be/WJ9obOnpH74  remember that you ONLY use buttons 1 to 5

If your code was for example 6875 then you press button 1, six times. press button 2, eight times. press button 3, seven times. press button 4, five times. lastly press button 5 once to enter the code.

Thanks everyone.

I got a free new code instantly from here https://www.instant-radio-codes.co.uk/ which fixed the issue.

I have no idea why the old original code supplied by Ford didn't work - all v odd.

Are you sure the head unit hasn't been changed in the meantime?

Ford M Series Instructions:

Type in the 6 digit serial number and then press button 5 on the radio 'calculate code'.
If the serial has 7 digits then use the last 6 i.e ignore the first 0 after the letter.
To close the program press the volume button 'close program'
To clear the serial press the seek button on the radio.

Ford A,L & C Series Instructions:

Type in the 6 digit serial number into the 'Enter serial number' box.
Depending on the type of serial and radio press the corresponding button on the left to get the unlock code.
