Mk7 Fiesta - Air Bag Resistor Switch

Featured Replies

Help guys!

I bought some aftermarket seats to install into my Fiesta but I'm having issues with regards to the airbag plug thats housed underneath the factory seats. Once I disconnect the plug I know the airbag light will appear on the dash, I've been told that I need to purchase an airbag resistor that fits into the plug which turns off the airbag sensor. Sadly the air bag resistor kit that Recaro sell is a universal one so it wont fit into my plug, I was told that Ford should sell an 'end cap' that does the same thing but when I called them the parts team didn't have a clue what I was talking about.

Would anyone know what I need to do or where I can buy a kit that will fit straight onto my plug?

I've attached pics for referencepost-17478-0-65163100-1299584876_thumb.jpost-17478-0-50899600-1299584895_thumb.j

Any ideas will be greatly received.

Thank you

Good Afternoon Dan,

I understand the airbag wires are yellow but I'm guessing the wires for the air bags and the seat belt tensioners have been stuck in the same plug, at one stage I was hoping my car didn't come with seat air bags but I noticed last night that I have an 'airbag' label stitched onto the side of both seats aaaaargh!

I have been told that not all the models in the Fiesta range have seat airbags so surely Ford have to have something available similar to an 'end cap' that I can fit.

Otherwise I'm gonna have to just remove the bulb for the airbag from the dash, not ideal I know.

I know what to do, I'm gonna take the plug off and switch the car on, if no lights appear on the dash then that plug has to be for the seat belt.....but then where is the plug for the air bags? Hmmm gonna have to do a little more investigation.

Gents - I've decided to not install the Recaro's, too much hassle with regards to the airbag sensor and pre-tensioners and also the subframe and runners for the aftermarket seats from Recaro are VERY EXPENSIVE!. Its a lot easier and less stress to just get the factory seats retrimmed. Its a shame but I haven't got the energy or strength to deal with possible issues with sensors and electrics.
