btmaldon
Hi All, Is it really worth taking Gap insurance and Smart service for a brand new vehicle ? Please let me know. thanks I took out Gap insurance on my current vehicle but not on the new one I have ordered. I suppose its great if the car gets written off, but a complete waste of money if its not. Also, if you change your car within three years you cannot transfer the cover. The Smart service may be worth it if you plan on keeping the car for a fair amount of time. I would check to see if that is transferable if I were you. Im looking at taking the GAP cover out on my new Kia, its only valid for three years and for me, costs £295. Personally I think its a good spend, because if the worst should happen, you are only £300 out of pocket, rather than £3000! As for the Smart service, I havent heard of it so cant really comment, but if its similar to my "service Plan" where you pay about £20 monthly that covers the cost of your service, its a good buy as it spreads the cost!
