Returning Car To Garage

Featured Replies

I bought an 04 plate focus ghia Tdci in Jan 10 from a ford dealer and have had over £2k worth of things needing to be fixed on it. This weekend the car decided to cut out whilst driving and stop. This happened again shortly after so now I am going to have to take it back to the garage again. I took out an extended 2 year warranty on the car which was recommended by the garage I bought it from. So far only 2 things have been covered under the warranty. I feel like giving the car back to the garage and asking for my money back. Its only done 58k and it feels worse than my 13 year old astra I gave up. The whole idea of a newer car was reliability but its anything but that at the moment. Any views on this would be appreciated, do you think I'm just unlucky and should get on with it. I just feel like the garage has sold us a lemon, a £5k lemon.

Under various acts, including Sale of Goods act, the item sold must be fit for purpose. If you feel that the vehicle is anything but, then you have 6 months to return the item as "inherently faulty". Basically the faults where there when you bought the car, so if they sold you it and didnt advise this then you have a right to return your vehicle and be provided a full refund.
