Hi. I have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia. S Reg. Started car this morn, and the car was fine. Later, went to get petrol... next thing the temp gauge was past red. Got home. Fuses are all fine. Got in this morning, started car and although the engine was cold, the temp gauge was still on to maga hot! It had never moved. It's still on it now with the engine off. Waters fine and the other weird thing is that although engine is supposed to be so hot, the fan isn't kicking in. There are no other warning lights.

Guess its the gauge, but can anyone help?

Its more likely the sensor and can usually be found around the thermostat housing area. Unplug it and see if the gauge drops to cold, if its not the sensor i'd go for the sensor wire shorted to ground.

There should be a separate sensor to switch the fan on when required.
