Worried About First Service, Advice Please

Featured Replies

Hey guys, basically I have my fiesta on a finance deal subject to three years.

My first service is coming up and I'm worried about what they might say to me as I have added a subwoofer and have messed around with interior lighting (cutting footwell wiring etc).

What will they have to say about this? Will I have any problems? Obviously I understand that I would have voided my warranty. Should I bother taking the subwoofer out while it goes in for service?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Is it on finance to buy or are you handing it back at the end?

If the later you shouldn't have modified it...

If you're that worried just take it to a different dealer? Your dealer might not even know it's on finance (the bodyshop wouldn't know this)

Probably will trade it back in for another one, but I will get rid of as much of the mods as possible.

So I should just leave it then? I wondered if they would even know, as you stated.

Thanks so much!

Doubt they will take any notice. It's only when you hand it back in you need to worry about any mods.

The person or people servicing your car wont know if yourcar is on finance or weather it has the mods fitted when you purchased, theynever check anything the only thing id worry about in a service is will thecheck my oil and change it as garages are a shower of !Removed!’s when it comes tochanging oil during a service half of them never do

Awesome guys thanks so much for the replies! It can all be reversed so no worries ;)

The weather here today in Scotland little wet, whether it will be better in the week; we'll have to weather it and see?

God bless you Mr Tom Scott, English teacher 1981 in Leek (Staffs), top guy

Whether the weather be mild or whether the weather be not,

Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot,

We'll weather the weather whatever the weather,

Whether we like it or not.

I love the forum and its tolerance ;-)

Bad form replying to you own post but:

'Whether we go or whether we stay, the result is the same?'

Bless you Mr Scott

R-head, what on earth?!

this may help, i had mine serviced with DRL's added, the sheet physically says "3 led bulbs not working" they really wasn't arsed, they simply cared about the physical state of the car an that it was in check

Cheers Nico, good man

i was the same, i was really really worried... i just took my K&N off for fear they would be bothered i was messing with the engine, but yea i got !Removed! loads of daft lil stuff where i have cut into wires, bt as i said they wasn't too fussed, they even topped up my engine coolant for me and passed it!!

When I got mine serviced I had a K&N Panel filter, LED Bulbs all around, Footwell lighting and HID's fitted they didn't say anything; they even claimed to realign my lights on the sheet!

Which proves they probably did faf all.

Dont worry they will not be interested in these minor modifications. Unless you have butchered the body work adding extra speakers is a pretty common thing.

As for the interior lighting, unless you are reporting a problem, I doubt if they would even know.

R-head, what on earth?!

I think R-head was commenting on Lenny's use of 'weather' instead of 'whether'. It seems a somewhat odd post to me as well - it's always been deemed unnecessary for members of FOC to go around pointing out inconsistencies in grammar and spelling.

Just so you're aware, I've got my car modified a lot and coz my warranty is void on everything except the paint work I've decided to get my car serviced at a non Ford dealership - a hell of a lot cheaper, the only reason we service with Ford is so our warranty is valid. Regarding the mods you did, the service guys wouldn't even know and regarding the lights dont mention this when you hand the car back - trust me the sales guy wont even check these aletrations unless you tell him.
