Fiesta Ignition Feed

Featured Replies

Hello, as i sure may of you probably know, i currently trying to wire in a set of DRL's properly to the car, so far i got all the gear and have a rough idea how to go about it, but i need to find out the best way to tap into the ignition feed, so they turn on/off when the car does... and does anyone know a point in the engine bay where i can get to this???

seeing as no one could really answer that last question try you with this one.... i got this

connect the wires from the lamps to the wires of the module (the little box i got that enables you to power both lights off one feed) The ignition wire is connected to the live feed of any component that is live when the ignition is on. all the black wires are negative and must be connected. the lights will come on when the engine is started and switch off when the car goes off....

so in other words i need to find something that turns on, only when the key is at stage 2 and above on the ignition, and then lead it to an earthing spot, or the negative on the battery which ever is most sensible/viable... if anyone could shed some light on this one for me i would be over the moon i really want to get this things put on properly for once and for all!!!!!

thankss

Try the fusebox under the hood, look in your manual what fuses are in there and pick one that works when the starterkey is turned on.

I've not looked how my man did it, but he put a fuse in the the box under the bonnet, and they go one and off with the ignition, well stay on a few seconds after!

you got yours put on proper didn't you from memory... i wouldn't mind paying a lil myself to make sure they on proper.

but from what people have said adding/finding a fuse that turns on when the car does is the way to go with it... just where to connect the negative feed now though

fuses 10, 19, 20, 21, 30, 31, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39&40 in the engine compartment fuse box are free... anyone know which of this are best to use (only active at key stage 2 +) ???

If I remember, I'll have a look in mine, see where the wire goes!

you wont believe how giddy i got from seeing this topic back up top lol... thanks a heck of a lot for that!! just have to do abit of searching into where to get them from now, are them 2 blue ones anything? i cant remember seeing big blue things in there... or it may be me not remembering... but thank you a lot for that!!!

and as for the style of lights... you not had any trouble? my first set were spot on, and lasted me god, months then one went and due to them working in sets of 3, the neighboring 2 went at the same time leaving a gap in them, so i had get new ones... and i think after 4 different sellers i gave up with non of them lasting over 2 weeks!!

erm...think it's 3, the 13 is upside down, so 3amp not E

No probs, although only there since January, on previous titanium (see pic on left) they were done easter tuesday last year, and lasted well until I got rid of the car 13th jan this year, not one out!
