Hi Nico

Thanks for the reply.

The existing one is floppy will this matter as I have a bracked to affix to where the original air box was.

One thing that has always clouded my mind is how is the cone shielded from water splashes etc and rain.

Jamie

How do you plan to mount the cone? If it's where im thinking, you need to protect it from heat. The idea of an cone is to suck in cold air, hence the (small) gain in power. Where i think your going to put it, it will suck in nothing but hot air from the engine. This will reduce power.

This item here: http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.jsp?productID=913 would be better than an "open" k&n cone filter.

as for getting it wet and that, it dont really seem to be an issue, when ever i hose down the engine i put it back to standard (my engine ends up covered in dust every other week)

so i cant say to much about the cone and with standing water, other than it dont seem to get wet from puddles when i check

and as for it being floppy and so on, not really, its a small pain yeah, but unless your wanting to show off under your bonnet all the time it makes no real difference..

and linking on to mark's post, they are brilliant things them add ons, but if your not too bothered about extra power (with it being small anyway) and just want abit of noise from the engine, leaving it where the old one was gives you some what of a cold feed (from the engine fan pipe and the floor where the original filter gets it from, to get best results (for alot less than 200 quid) a few people i know have bought some piping, much like that off the back of a stand-alone AC unit in offices, that channels air to the cone from the air box
