Cd Error

Featured Replies

Hello. I bought a 56 Ford Fiesta Zetec yesterday from a ford dealer. Driving it home I notice that it says "CD error" - it seems to be blocked as I cant insert a cd into it. Phoned the dealer last night, they said no problem it can easily be sorted, but today its a different story - they are now saying they have to send it away for 6 weeks without a replacement car or I can wait for another fiesta to come in for sale and they will take the cd from that. It all sounds a bit dodgy to me. I thought paying the premium of buying from a dealer would eliminate all this hassle.

So my questions are - (i) is this normal practice - 6 weeks to mend a cd player when they haven't even examined it (although now I am suspicious that they knew there was a problem, I guess I should have checked it before buying), and (ii) has anyone else come across this "cd error" - I need to check the model name. This is my first car, so I'm new to it all. Any advice please? Thanks.

Not come across this error before, but it sounds like a faulty head unit. they only need to take out the CD unit, so shouldnt need to send your car away! otherwise I would ask outright for them to confirm they knew about this or not...

pull the unit out yourself, disconnect it and reconnect it...making sure the connections are good and secure...a techy reboot will work most of the time.
