smoothdriver108
Hi , I read somewhere that 5/30 oil was recommended for these engines, but in the handbook that came with it says to use 10/30 and 5/30 for colder climates -Scandinavia only. What do people use in these engines ? tia Dave.
btmaldon
I always use 5/30 in Zetec and Duratec engines. This is what is specified in the UK.

smoothdriver108
Well today I drained the sump and changed the filter, I then put in a measured 4L (of 5/30). When I checked the dipstick it was way over the max. (car was on a level) So I had to drain I guess 1L. I thought the capacity was 4 and a quarter litres. I can't believe it only takes 3L. Any advice/thoughts appreciated.
vinnyvangough
Did you pre fill the new filter as much as you could?
smoothdriver108
Did you pre fill the new filter as much as you could? Hi Vinny , no, just a little on the rubber seal and a drop inside.
vinnyvangough
I usually fill the filter as much as poss to limit any air trapped inside
smoothdriver108
Thanks for the tip I'll do that next time. Undoing the filter was a bit of a pig,but easier next time hopefully.(Very impressed with the torque for a 1.6 on these engines.)
