I just bought a used (04) KA and have now had a chance to go over it thoroughly and found an oil leak coming from the gear selector seal. The vehicle came with a full main dealer service history and all the receipts. The seal was changed 15,000 miles ago (17 months ago).

Is the repair under guarantee? Does the guarantee transfer to a new owner?

    When buying a new car, most dealers will offer a short warranty period. When did you buy the car, and did you buy it from the dealer?

    If yes, then you should return it and get them to repair it! if you saw it had a leak beforehand, then they may claim it is sold as seen! Otherwise you can claim that the fault was present when purchased, and as an inherent fault the car is not fit for purpose!
