Focus 1.8Tddi Not Starting

Hi all,

i recently bought a w plate Focus 1.8TDDI, however it recently stopped working, basically i came out of work and it wouldnt start so got it towed home and now i am at a loose end.

the car will not start, it tries but won't go, i have fuel getting to the filter and when i was towed tonight i bump started it, however when i rev it over 3k it cuts straight out, and wont start again on its own, it will only start being towed.

i dont really want to take it to a dealer but may have to.

has anyone else had this? or does anyone have any idea of what could caue it?

any help is greatly recieved.

    Gut is yelling battery! when you start the car, does the lights just flicker on and off? also do you hear a sort of clicking noise in the cockpit?

    What type of battery is in their? my bet is that its the original and its just given up the ghost!

    Its definatley not the battery!there's no clicking noise and the lights don't flicker on/off.We have tested the battery and all seems fine with that.It is turning over just won't start!

    Does anything actually click / light up? does the starter motor actually kick in at all?
