Continual Engine Warning Lights

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently updated my old 2001 Mondeo to a 57 Diesel TDCI Mk4 with 72,000 on the clock.

Bascially had nothing but problems from day 1 - engine warning light came on (P042A Cat Temp sensor). This was looked at by a local garage who said because it was so low on fuel when we collected it, this sensor had been triggered. Light turned out and that seemed to be that.

More lights followed - this time a turbo problem which resulted in the "engine malfunction" light appearing and the car going into limp-mode. This was fixed by Ford after calling the AA and being without the car for 4 days. One day later the light is back on yet again and I'm presuming its the PO42A again as this was found by the AA when I called them out (but now wondering why Ford didn't find it). Ford also said the front and back brake discs were "80% worn" - how could this have passed an MOT just 6 weeks ago?

It took me 7 years in my old Mondeo to get a warning light - I've barely had a day in 2 months without it on now!

It's at the point where I don't even trust it now - does it sound like a lemon or am I just plain unlucky?!

Many thanks for any help or advice,
