Ford Focus Turbo Help

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had a problem with my Focus 1.6 tdci 05 with the turbo going (120k on the clock so it had done well!) So it looks like I’ll be selling it as it is just to get rid of it.

I’m looking to get a new car but I love the focus and love diesels so I’m looking to get the face lift model (2008 onwards). I’ve heard from various garages and people that the 1.6 engine is prone to having the turbo go. Is it just the 1.6 or is it across the whole diesel range of that model engine? I take it the engine is the same in the face lift model?

Ideally I’m looking to get a 1.8 or 2.0 tdci focus, but I’m not sure whether I should in case this happens again? Although I am looking to spend a bit more and get a low mileage (under 40k) so whether I should be worried about until it gets above 100k?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Phil
