Reasonable Price?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, We've been looking around for a 1.4 fiesta titanium and come across an 09 with sub 10,000 miles on the clock spec'd with keyless entry and power start.. It seems in reasonable condition, locking nuts need spraying, a couple of scratches on the boot that have been touched up badly, swirl marks from washing badly and rusty discs. The only thing is they won't really budge on price is £8350 good or could we get better elsewhere? It's just alot of money for us so we need to be condident it's worth it. It was their demo car by the way, then used by the owners wife.

Any help's appreciated,

Ad.

09 plate, less than 10k on the clock on a lower end model, I would say you could get around 7k for, for a specc'd motor I think the price there culd be alright, however you would have to use a lot of deal playing.

When you say locking nuts need spraying what do you mean? have they seized and need a greasing, or do you mean they have started oxidising and need a clean off?

The boot scrathes, if you were to get the car, I would get that sorted as part of the deal, get them to respray the boot at a fraction of the cost and you may consider the car. Other than that, the swirl marks tend to be from their quick electric polish, they dont tend to worry about using an old pad so it does that. I would also get them to do a decent spit polish on it, and advise if they can get the swirl marks out so it looks more like "that one over there" (point to a nice clean shiny older car on the forecourt" then again you will be happy to take the car away. As for the fact that its an ex demo car, and used by the owners wife, thats technically two previous owners. Rather than getting money knocked off the car, use this as leverage to get them to tidy it up for the price, and maybe try get a tank of fuel chucked in.

Most of these techniques work on a standard sale, except the boot spray, but other than that, good luck. I would say that you seem to be looking at the going rate for a car of that spec, but you really need someone more in the trade to advise on wether you are getting the best deal.

Hope this helps...
