After just 45000 miles from new,noticed a huge puddle appearing under rear of engine bay.Upon checking at local garage told that I need to source a new steering rack for my 2003 Ka rhd Duratec 8v 1.3efi with power steering.(track rod end gone as well).The local Ford garage want over £400 plus vat.Can anyone put us in touch with a genuine Ford part for less.The Ford part number is 1469242,thanks,Brommers.

there are a number of places that will do a reconditioned unit for alot less money, they will ask for your old one back though. ive never had any issues with recon parts, the warranty is usually ok too.

£400!? Ouch, that's a lot of money! Like Stef said there's places online that will do you a reconditioned unit for less money, and usually the warranty is good for 12 months at least - you just have to send your old one back because the refurbish this with new seals etc and send it out to someone else, so they have a good source of PAS pumps and racks etc.

I've done a search on eBay and found this one.

Also this one.

Please bear in mind those are just examples to show they are out there for a lot less than £400!
