whining noise

Featured Replies

hi, i've got a mk4 fiesta 1.3 endura e. there is a high pitched whining noise coming from the engine. and being the typical 17 year old lad i think it sounds rather poor. its probably just the sound of a healthy engine but would it be the exhaust note or the alternator whining? its not a slow car but i would like a deeper noise to come from it. any ideas?

by the way, I'm not a complete newbie i've swapped the engine and changed the gearbox, I'm just not very good at diagnosing noises!

cheers, tom.

proboaly the alternator belt my does that when its cold

could also be a belt pully.

cheers guys.

i'm slapping a new induction kit and tasteful exhaust system on next month so it should drown out that sound anyway!

i'll check all the belts and pulleys for wear while i'm under the bonnet.
