Water Leak

Featured Replies

hi all i gota water leak on my focus when iv ad it on the ramp water comes out the engine bay some wheree like a tap when i put it bk on the wheels nufin comes out ne help?????

It could be your water pump mate, sounds very much like a similar issue my brother was having on an Escort. Not too difficult to fix but does involve changing/replacing the timing belt. Best advice I can give to isolate the source of the leak, is to allow the engine up to temperature (the thermostat will open allowing coolant to flow through the radiator) and then get underneath the car - but be careful. Check all coolant pipes, hoses and clips.

If you have access to a pressure tester for the coolant use this, they're safer because you don't need to run the engine up to temperature.

As far as the leak not occuring when the wheels are on it could be coincidence or by the time you've lowered the car and put the wheels back on the leak has stopped due to the pressure decreasing.

Hope that's some help and gives you an idea on where to go.

Dan
