Thirsty Mondeo Mk3?

Featured Replies

hi all just brought my self a mondeo mk3 and seems to me to be a little bit on the thirsty side. I put £30 and get 130 miles this is town driving drop kids off etc and never motorway but when i go on motorway i get 220 miles out of 40 which i think i should be getting town driving. recently i have had black smoke when i boot it i have had turbo checked and pipe egr replaced and garage said injectors sound good because it would sound awful if one was failed also had diagnostics no fault to be found any info or thoughts would be much appreciated many thanks adam

Try some BG244, possible build up of coke. This stuff is pricey but has some real great reviews on here.

Dave

EGR and/or airfilter

My m8 used to equate his mpg by the £'s put in and miles done.

It turned out his Escort was actually MAKING petrol if his sums were to be believed.

The ONLY way to find out MPG is to fill up and I mean FILL.

Zero the odometer and drive.

Next time you FILL up check the ammount put inagainst the miles done.

Yep the only way

dont trust the MPG on the dash or the fuel level.

as said fill up till it clicks or till it at the rim like i do.

re set ya trip.

when ya next fill up take note of miles covered and work out the MPG.

just google mpg calculator it easier

My 2.0tdci 130 motorway i do 60mph i get about 55mpg

bit of eveything i get about 40-45mpg

My Mondeo 2.2 Diesel Estate has done 55 mpg on a 300 mile round trip @ 60mph with one passenger and unladen.

I get 48 round town and all on supermarket diesel.

I've never noticed any change at all when using fuel company stations.

BTW. Anyone used vege oil in one of these?

My Sierra, mk2 mondeo and Puegeot 406 (spit !) didn't take any harm from it.
