2007 Galaxy 2.0 Tdci Ghia Starting Issues

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a galaxy 2007 2.0 tdci ghia which when you turn the ignition on to where the glow plug light shows it literally vanishes straight away and then wont start, however if you then retry and leave the final turn to fire the engine for about 15-20 seconds it then starts but you get smoke and even fumes from the engine.

Can anyone help as the local dealer is useless

Thanks

On the surface it sounds as if your glowplugs are on the way out. This colder weather shows up any weakness in the plugs. If it turns out one (or more) of the plugs are duff, replace the entire set. Replacing just one plug is a false economy, and will soon pull the other plugs down. The smoke you are seeing is a result of incomplete combustion, or unburnt fuel.
