Ford Escort Clutch Pedal Travel

I have just bought a 1996 Ford Escort Cabriolet. it has a retro fitted 1.8 Turbo Diel Engine. The clutch pedal travel from The floor is quite sall, I.e the clutch pedal has to be pushed right down to the floor to engage and change gear. Is this pedal position acceptable, what is the normal bite position for a Ford Escort clutch pedal?

Fords tend to have a very high clutch bitting point, I unsure from your post if your saying the bite point is low down or high up??

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply, my clutch pedal travel is low.

The clutch bites/engages wen the pedal is just off the floor.

I have since managed to improve the bite point, by pulling up on the pedal, and the automatic adjusting quadrant has taken up a bit, and now the bite point is better.

Thanks again for your trouble in replying.

Graham
