Mondeo -Speedo Showing Higher Speed

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,,newbie here and hoping someone can help me..

My mondeo 2000 verona speedo needle shows a faster spped than i am actually travelling --typically needle on 50 mph when only doing 28 (well according to sat nav which i have to use to save getting done for speeding ).

If i stop needle drops--but as soon as i start moving up it shoots,,,,rev counter and mileage clocks work fine. Wondering if its sensor on back of gearbox or something more sinister--grateful of any help as cant afford garage fees.

Cheers Baza

Sounds to me like the VSS is in need of replacing! it seems to be picking up double the speed! last time I saw that happen to me was in the snow, and my wheels where doing 70mph, but I was sat still!
