Does anyone know how I can empty the air con on a mk1?

Don't think there is much in there anyway but don't wana remove a pipe and get sprayed or something.

It's not in a driveable state hence why I'm asking lol

It should be done by a aircon specialist as it's an environmental issue. <_<

its now illegal to dump R314 to atmoshere !!!!!

It is a legal requirement for an authorised aircon engineer to draw off any remaining refrigerant safely using the correct equiptment and dispose of it at an authorised facility.

If you get caught doing it yourself it's a pretty hefty fine.

CIBSE National Conference 1999

Refrigerant Recovery and Leak Detection

Section (33) ic of the Environmental Protection Act which came into force on 1st

April 1992, makes it an offence for any person to “treat, keep or dispose of

controlled waste in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm

to human health”.

The penalties are severe, namely

A. On summary conviction (i.e. in a magistrates court) a term of

imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding £20,000

or both!

B. On conviction on indictment (i.e. by a jury) a term of imprisonment not

exceeding 5 years or a fine (unlimited) or both!

Heavy stuff i think.

hi im a british standard approved m.e.t fitter panelbeater & i know for a fact that it is against the law to release air con gas into the atmosphire on purpuse you have to get some one who is quailfied to remove it & despose of it in the proper manner,,,, but it is not against the law when you have a accident & the air con gas leeks out
