Whooping Wind Noise

Featured Replies

Hi, I am new on here as recently purchased a MK3 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi (07 Plate). The car drives great and i haven't had any problems but there a couple of noises that i am not sure are normal or not.

1. When dipping or releasing accelerator pedal (eg, when changing gear) at low speeds there is this whooping noise, the best way i can describe it is like a low wind howling noise or when you cup your hands and low between your thumbs to make an owl noise. It is not a loud sound but there and audible.

2. The vehicle has the normal tapping noise that diesels have though when i put load on the engine for example the aircon the tapping become more pronounced and louder, no effect to the performance however.

If anyone can shed light on these noises i would be grateful, hopefully to let me know they are normal. If not i have a warranty luckily.

thx

Paul

1. the noise could be coming from a split hose so check all the rubber turbo and intercooler hoses for splits or leaks

2. check the aux belt and tensioner for any movement or bouncing when the engine is ticking over.
