Interior Light Removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I need to remove my front interior light from my 2007 Mk2 Focus, I have removed the plastic light cover , and inside is a metal tang that apparently needs to be pushed or pulled in a certain direction to allow the fitting to be removed. I have tried moving the metal tang forewards and backwards, but the fitting does not want to come out. any idea what I am doing wrong?

Cheers.

Phil.

Get a blade screwdriver between the side nearest the windscreen and the light surround and lever the screwdriver towards the screen.

The front of the light will pop out and then you may have to use the screwdriver to ease the back out too.

The clip is just there to act as a spring to hold the light firmly in place.

If you're planning to change the bulbs or disconnect the wiring to the light I strongly suggest you pull the fuse first as they tend to be very easy to blow.

That method works a treat. Thanks for the fast reply, yet again the Haynes manual method is not the way to do it!

Cheers.

Phil.

My light has been out more times than you'd imagine.

Experience counts for everything.

Hello all. I'm new to this forum. I'm having this problem now but still can't make the bulb holder click out as you suggest. I've had one side almost out and the recommended centre point nearest the windscreen flexing to the point where I suspected there to be some hidden retaining screws. Before posting I tried again using a bladed screwdriver in the centre then twisting 2 smooth tablespoon handles either side but still no joy. Do I just persevere with confidence? lol

The car is 2010 Focus Titanium with a speaker near the light fitting.

The reason for all this is to explore the possibilty of a satnav fault in the aerial.

Thanks

Dave

There is a spring steel clip in the middle.
Push the screwdriver up dead centre and lever forwards towards the windscreen and the light will pop out on that side.
The other side is plastic lugs that hook into the surround.
