Hi everyone I am A newby. I have just bought a mondeo titanium 57 plate, on the way to work I had power lose, a plume of black smoke and when I revved the engine there was a rattling noise, can anyone help many thanks.

    presuming that as its a turbo engine you probably have a diesel, so start off with the service history, make sure that the EOLYS fluid is topped up. Have you any strange lights on the dash? could be the DPF is clogged, and there was a backlog of pressure that has caused the blow out of soot from the exhaust, but as for the loss of power, that could be a number of things.S

    Pop the bonnet and start the engine, do you hear any whistles? do you hear any other noises when the car is revved gently and then some?

    can you trace the rattle whilst the car is revving stationary?
