Am I Driving A Ferrari? Lambourghini? Or A Cmax?

Featured Replies

I recently noticed that there is a minor problem under the bonnet (or should I say, yet another minor problem!)...

The Mass Air Flow hose, that goes from the air filter box to the turbo, and has the hose that then goes off up to the top of the engine block is where I am referring to. This hose (that goes from the main MAF hose to the top of the engine block) has a flimsy plastic clip which then secures the hose in place. This has broken so now the hose is unsecured and shaking wildly...

So I set about looking for the part number, which I have found., This upper hose which isn't a solid part of the unit, appears to be removable but is not sold separately, so you need a full Mass Air Flow assembly... Fords price - £93 after VAT!!! £93!!! What the ?!?!? - in essence for a single broken clip!!!

I personally believe that this is crazy talk, so had a look on ebay and found a part for just under £30. Might not be OEM but has a 6 month warranty, might well look to get this, unless of course, I can find some way to fix the clip (highly unlikely but SuperGlue may just be able to help!

£93.... for a small piece of plastic!

Use a gather clip instead mate cost under 3 pounds for chrome

Unfortunately there isnt enough space for the clip to go round, so it needs to be a new part.Already bought them, and wastd my money, lol, plus the clip is entirely seperating from the hose itself, so its now at a point that the only reason its sitting in place, is because the magic rubber tape is sticking it together :p

Temporary fix in place (amalgamating tape securing it to the block), got the order, and for £31 I have a new part coming through with a 6 month warranty off ebay. Next day delivery, so I should be good to go tomorrow.
