Engine Swap

Featured Replies

Hi folks I've just purchased a mk5 fiesta flight 02 plate it has a enduro-e engine I want to use the car as a project firstly starting with an engine conversion I'm just want to find out what other ford engines will fit in the car can anyone help

well will need EVERYTHING from the donor car from the engine bay. you will need the engine, gearbox, drive shafts, ECU, wiring harness, possibly keys, new hubs and brakes if the engine is from a different car.

What if I get the engine from a ford puma I've been looking at a 1.7 puma engine

you'll still need the engine (obviously), gearbox, drive shafts, ECU, wiring harness, possibly keys but you might be able to get away with it

Right that's cool buddy thanks now I know what I'm after

i forgot to mention engine mounts. youll need them as the ones fitted wont be strong enough or different mountings, plus you'll have to inform the DVLA which will have an affect on your insurance

Do you going to use the car purely for the road or do you plan using it for competition use etc?

It used to be you might need a "Q" plate but the rules may have changed, im a member of a modified car club and there was talk of the MOT becoming a lot more difficult for cars like these - you could not cut the chassis, the airbag/s all had to be present, the drivers seat had to be adjustable back & fourth (it could not be bolted to the floor to fit the driver)

There are some swaps that would be easier than others (eg st150 / xr2 turbo) - personally if i was going to the trouble i would fit the 5-pot turbo and a LSD -223Hp stock and 260 just with a remap 300+ easy to get and 350Hp not out of the question (especially if you start of with the Focus RS engine)

The little Fiesta is a lot lighter than the Focus st225 (about an obese 1400kgs compared to about 1100 or less) - so would be worthwhile just for that (otherwise you may have just bought an ST225 ) - it could make an exellent sleeper

If its not going to be at least quicker than a ST150 (which is not that quick) - why bother with all the hassle - insurance is probably giong to be expensive whatever you do
