A New Ford Owner! Hello To All :)

Featured Replies

A once Proud, then Irritated and Confused, further to Annoyed and finally Fustrated Renault Megane Owner (sorry for the french swearing!) I now own a MK1? 2003 Ford Focus 1.6LX 16V 5 Door Hatchback with 79k :)

While owning the renault (For excacly 364 days!) i had the problems of:
Steering rack - broken, Quoted = £495
Front springs moving in mountings, Quoted = £120

Trottle Body faulty, Quoted = £96.73
Exhaust hole in rear box and somewhere in middle, Quoted = £170ish
'Check Injection' fault every day,
Clutch way too high off the floor, Quoted = £350+ for new clutch!

Dephraser Pulley really noisey - needed replacing, Quoted = £145?!
Cambelt was due for a change, Quoted = £299 (renault dealer)
Boot 'number-plate lights' flickered while driving and turned off when opening boot,
Ciglighter socket kept blowing fuse every start-up,
Door sensors only worked on O/S/F and N/S/R - depending on weather (rain worked best)

Alternator was (overcharging?) battery causing the battery to be at 13.5v (apparently) Quoted = £180
Autowipers fault - didnt understand LIGHT rain to HEAVY rain.
Upon unlocking doors via keycard, car would decide to lock it self, active alarm then re-unlock again,
So..... all in all about £1800 to sort out :D

AFTER all this, i decided to swap for a sensible car! From a 2005 Megane 1.6 Estate with Same milage (all but 2k) with a 2003 Focus 1.6 LX Hatchback with a longer tax and mot deadline :D

Looking to add pictures soon, get hints, tips and advice for any faults which may occur as i am thinking of lightly modifying exterior depending on budget :)

Thats all i can think for now, anyway, DONT BUY RENAULT. :)

Hi welcome :)

sounds a nightmare
