New Keys

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Reading through the car manual (Focus 2002 Zetec), it seems that I only need 2 keys to program a new one, and no mention of a red "Master" key. But every key shop i've been to refuses to do me a new key without this "master" key, and won't even sell me one to do myself.

I currently have 2 blue chipped keys (Well, one blue chip, and a remote fob, which I assume is classed as a blue key)...

Is this because it can't be done without it? Or are they covering their asses? Or am I being fed bull****?

Cheers

You're being fed bull mate. You have all you need to programme a new key yourself. Of course that is if user programming of PATs is turned on on your car. You wont know this until you try. Fords with the RF central locking system rather than the IR system dont need or indeed have a master key.
