Sheeps Skin wash mitt

Wheelygoodstuff car shampoo

Bucket with grit guard

AutoGlym Wheel cleaner

Autoglym Alloy Wheel sealent

AutoGlym Perfect palm thingy

AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine

AutoGlym Glass polish

AutoGlym Bumper care

Microfiber cloths (from www.wheelygoodstuff.co.uk) to buff off with

That would be my brothers 335i M sport. I like my Fiesta more :)

That is one shiny car! I really dont know how to clean my car. Can I just wash it with car shampoo and dry with a chami? When would I need to wax it? I think thats where I went wrong with my current car.

don't dry it with a chamois it scratches the paint.

wash it with 2 buckets - one with shampoo in it and the other clean water to wash your sponge/mit in after you wash abit of the car.

wax is vital but wax is only ever any good if you clean the paint first :) hope that helps a wee bit

Thanks greenmk7. When would I wax it? Monthly? Every week? Its always awkward washing my car. I live on the first floor and so don't have access to a garden hose. Takes so long walking up and down with buckets of water. Good form of exercise though

a good wax (dodo juice blue velvet) should last around a couple of months maybe even longer.

its made the sparkle in my panther black amazing, i didnt realise how good a colour it was till this weekend

Cool thanks for that. I was going to start a thread or something about cleaning but I thought it would be silly. Glad it wasnt :)

I was looking at all the dodo juice stuff - is it really as good as they say? Any idea what one I would need for the Hot Magenta? I thought maybe the Purple Haze?

personally i would go for either hardy candy (pink one) or banana armor (yellow one)

and for the price you just cant go wrong, if you want the best then go with supernatural but thats £65 there is a difference though.

i would also say make sure you go for a hard wax so you don't over applicate it, soft waxes are great for hand application on top of a hard wax which is what i have done with mine.

repeated applications should only be done after 24 hours and do now use any detailing sprays for at least 3/4 hours after putting the wax on.

you can also buff up a little bit more with a plain microfibre after 3/4 hours to help with the shine, make sure there is no dust on there first though.

So much hard work.

Cant you do it for me?

Cool, thanks for that. I read about the supernatural one but didn't realise the price of that. Do you use the limelite stuff before that and... (sorry if this sounds blonde!) if you've not to dry it with a chamoix, what do you do about drying it? Is that what the dodo juice drying towels are for?

I was thinking about getting Jewelultra Diamondbrite done soon after getting my car so i dont need to bother with waxes, all you need do is wash over with the proper product and its good (apparantly)

see:

http://www.jewelultra.co.uk/diamondbrite

Also these guys apply it professionally and was thinking of getting mine done there, loads of really good car care info on this site too:

Has anybody had a paint sealant like this or other ones like superguard put on their car? Whats your verdict?

I would avoid Superguard at all costs. Nothing beats regular cleaning and waxing to keep up the shine.

Why would you avoid supergaurd? do you have any experience of diamondbrite? I agree cleaning and waxing is the best, but i live in a flat and i have to park in a busy carpark, so this is difficult. Fortunatly the paintwork on my old 1998 fiesta was already poor so I have just been driving it through the carwash. I wont be doing this in my new one though!!

I think it looks like brand new! You have done a very good job. I feel like coming down to yours so you can give mine a once over! :)

Good work!

Its a huge rip off. Cars look very dull after a few weeks of driving and it will need "topping up" with a good wax such as Autoglym super resin polish. Now to me, why bother with superguard which will need topping up when you can just avoid the expensive product and keep it clean and shiney with cheaper and more cost effective waxes which remove scratches etc. If you have the time to clean and wax your car yourself, then do it as it will save you money in the long term. Also NEVER put a car into one of them auto car washes!

Also, as you can see in my pictures, the shine on my car is probs better than what Superguard can even dream of ;)

It has spurred me on to spending a small fortune in Halfords on Saturday, shall be stocking up on turtlewax and autoglym products to make my car even more shiney. Who says there is anything wrong with trying to make an 11 year old Fiesta look nice !

lol, no i wont be putting my lovely new car in a carwash, might as well wash it with a brillopad and be done lol. Only did with my last car as it was 11 years old and the paint was already poor. Your car does look very good, i am also getting black. Your critisism of paint sealants has opened my eyes a bit though, I may reconsider getting the diamondbrite after i have done some more research on this.
