Oil Drops & Rises

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure what's going on with my engine's oil.

I checked it the other day in the morning (hadn't been driven for around 12 hours) and it was at the bottom of the hi/low meter.

Went to work then checked a day after (12 hours non-drive too) and it was in the middle?

Does it slump in the cold or anything?

Not sure what's going on!

put simply sounds like the car wasnt on level ground which will effect the readings

it needs topping up lol. do it on level ground as stated, but always on a cold engine....

The ground I park/check oil on is level and stone cold

Sounds like the oil is dropping into the sump, how much oil difference are we talking? a few mm's on the dipstick?

I'd say around 1-2CM. Always seems to drop from the centre of the markings to the minimum then back a day ro two later

might be worth flushing the engine, some sort of temporary blockage might be holding oil back?
