    In the states it refers to which side of the v6 or v8 engines. Here in the UK it refers to pre-cat or post-cat o2 sensors, bank 1 being pre-cat.

    Could be cat or oxygen sensor u would need go ford or someone wit oscilloscope to test this correctly

    That's what I was thinking the oxygen sensors!! Didn't understand the bank 1!!

    Was going on bank 1 being the sensor before the cat!!

    Yes I was under thinking with it being the sensor or the cat!!

    I'll let you know once I've changed the sensor

    Usually is say bank 1 sensor 1 or sensor 2 sensor 1 pre cat an sensor 2 after cat

    Would bank 1 be the green oxygen sensor or the blue 1?

    Sorry for slow reply I've just been so very busy and borrowed my cousins car so haven't done anything on my focus yet

    Given that the code P0420 refers to catalyst efficiency is below the threshold, I would go with the sensor after the cat.

    You will need to work out why it's flagged up though unless you want to waste money trying a new sensor that may not be the answer!
