Fiesta Boot Problem

Featured Replies

Hello guys, hope you can help... Since November, my boot has been randomly opening every so often. I disconnected the battery to reset and all was well for about 2 weeks. Now the car is doing it every trip and sometimes I can't get into the car quick enough to lock the car from the inside to prevent the boot from opening!

Any suggestions?

sounds like the boot solenoid locking isnt latching correctly, could just need tightening up or may need a new locking latch

Hi, I had this problem last summer, and it was a faulty boot switch. Either you can replace it or do what I did. I took the switch out, opened it up, removed the tiny button inside and put aluminium foil on the plastic piece that get pushed when you push the switch to open the boot :) Didn't have the problem since, and its still working perfect.

I had this problem as well - it would randomly unlatch while I was driving along. After a while it seized up completely and the boot wouldn't open! Got it replaced under warranty just before it ran out.

Thank you for your replies!

The boot release button has also decided to die, so I believe its probably something to do with the boot mechanism.

Will mention it with my service which is due next month, sadly car is out of warranty by a year.

For me in the end the button didn't work, I could only open the boot with my key/remote :P

As others have said it is likely to be the boot switch.

I had this go on mine and is due to water getting inside and essential shorting the switch.

Mine got to the point where shutting the boot disturbed water in the switch and immediately un-latched again.
