Rear Speaker Wires

Featured Replies

Hi,

Trying to fit an amp & sub to my Focus Mk2.5 and struggling with the speaker wires.

When trying to take the headunit out to tap into the rear speaker wires, there are 4 screws holding it in.

1 screw comes out, the other 3 just spin. So, as I can't get the unit out, is there anywhere else I can tap into the rear speaker wires? Even if it just one side?

I have a wiring diagram from this site which for the Right Hand Speaker shows as;

WH-VT - Rear +

GY-WH - Rear -

Does this mean White & Violet, and Grey and White?

Seemingly stupid questions, but I don't want to break anything.

I thought about removing the trim on the centre pillar to access the wires from there, but didn't know if they were accessible from there.

Cheers

try putting a small screwdriver behind the head of the screw as you turn it

should come out

I've tried everything mate, 2 hours today trying to get them out.

I'm going to give it another try tomorrow, but I've got a feeling it won't work

Thought about drilling them out aswell, but not sure if thats a good idea or not?

remove the trim around the seat belt pillar at the bottom youll see the wires that run to the rear each side

The brackets that the radio screw into are only plastic and are replaceable.

The self tapping screws used to secure the radio can be turned too much and end up boring out the holes.

Grip the screws with pliers and pull them out then buy and fit new brackets (buy them first as they can take a week to come into a dealership.

Finis Number 1547964 and about £6.50 for a pair.

Cheers pal. I ended up using the wiring loom on the drivers side centre pillar. But I will get some of those on order as I need access to behind the stereo anyway
