Brake Pads

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm going to be booking my car in with Ford this week for a front set of brake pads.

Does anybody know the price (inc fitting)?

Thank you

Adam

...or fit them yourself - it's pretty easy if you know one end of a spanner from the other.

But either way, don't go to Ford for this! You'll pay more than double what you need to.

I was quoted £170 for new front brakes a few weeks back at the local ford garage. I agree with everyone else, go to a local garage

That's very expensive. Get the Haynes manual it's very good and do it yourself.

how often is it recommended to change brake pads?

Depends on driver

I'd done 36,000 miles when they advised me they would need changing soon

U need check thickness of pad wit torch or remove wheel if an check

thanks. will check mine tomorrow when its light

also check discs for lips....if they have a large lip change them also.......

I had my Focus saloon (1.8TDDI) for eight years and only needed to replace the brake pads once, shortly before I sold it. They were on the car when I bought it, and while I had it they covered almost 80,000 miles. So decent pads can really last for years if you aren't driving like a tool.
