Mpg Average On A Petrol 2008 1.6??

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Got a previous thread problem with my first focus in which I'm hoping to have it resolved soon.

What is the average Mpg on them because I do a average of 22 miles a day mainly 5th gear all the way to work and stop start mostly on the way home. My fuel gauge seems to be going down what I think is quick and average 32 Mpg according to it.

I'm hoping my previous thread of sorting my car will up the Mpg or is this about right??

Thanks in advance

Sounds about right to me. I have been working 9-5 for the last few weeks and my mpg has dropped to 22mpg :-/ due to traffic. I usually average 34-35 with mixed driving around the city with a bit of motorway here and there.

Ok thanks. Just looks like my fuel gauge is going down quick.

town driving and stop/start always makes the MPG look worse.

I drive an auto diesel and I get an average of 35 mpg at the moment, mostly moroway miles, but towards the end of the journey I hit a lot of town traffic.

I've got the 1.8 variation of your engine and if I drive like my nan, around town I get 20mpg. On the Motorway at a steady 65/70 I get about 45mpg. I'm averaging 24.1 at the moment

Luckily I'm going back onto shift work so miss all the traffic, so hope to be back at 34-35 soon! Coming from my old derv that seemed to do 45-50mpg no matter where I drove 22 is a big shock!

The fuel will go down quicker in this weather, however the worst I have ever had is 36mpg and the best is 45mpg.

Sounds about right tbh. I have a 2008 1.6. I normally pop in £20 worth of petrol at a time and mainly around town driving, occasional airport runs.

I get anywhere between 22 & 26mpg around town esp in traffic, and between 30 & 35mpg on longish journeys on roads with little to no traffic, and 36-40mpg motorway airport runs (my favourite). My eco mode tells me 75% of my journeys are with a cold engine unfortunately ;( But this time of year its too cold, wet and windy to hop on the bicycle to the gym and other nearby places.

i average 32 mpg not much motorway miles at all, generally trundling along in 5th most of the time

All seem to be getting around the same then. I have come from a 307 diesel to petrol so I'm probably noticing the slight difference

I'm averaging 21MPG at the moment, all town driving. 1.6 petrol.

this month i got 26.74 mpg that around town with a ladder and roofrack thats the best i have ever got

worst was 23.12 mpg that was january 2013

also just had a service and i'm now putting in premium fuel costs about £2.50 extra on a full tank

i use road trip lite app on my iphone it works everything out for you ,very good for a freebie

ive got the 115bhp version town driving never lower than 30mpg ....short trips ie 10 miles to work and back 36mpg to get 20s ive gotta throttle it everywhere
