New Engine Tips 03 Focus Tdci

Featured Replies

Right chaps ive got an 03 focus 1.8 tdci i had problems last week thought the clutch release bearing had gone but turns out the symptoms was turbo failure and when i took it bk the garage i bought it from he said the engines knackered, its under the garages warranty, i will get a new or different engine put in, is there anything i should look out for or ask about when the works been done because ive been told it could possibly take two weeks to find a engine and put it in so i need to gather as much info as possible, also he said it could take about two weeks bcos of the paperwork and they have to find one but im unsure if its going to be new or reconditioned. Any info would be much apreciated

We'll tell them u don't want second hand one god knows what mileage be on it but recon be over a grand so I sure they try get away with secondhand one tell them u want ur money back

second hand engines can be alright, but as Mick said, you dont want an engine thats done ten times the mileage this has.

I would advise that you want an engine up to a specific mileage (within reason) and that you want evidence of the engines mileage, otherwise you are rejecting the vehicle as both not fit for purpose and the vehicle not being in the condition as sold.

They have a right to offer you a reasonable engine, but if its got many more thousands of miles, then you are within your right to reject the vehicle under the sale of goods act and recieve a full refund.
